TWN: Taoyuan International Airport

9 Hangzhan South Road, Taoyuan, Taiwan

Taoyuan International Airport is Taiwan's largest and busiest airport, which is situated approximately 40 km from the capital city, Taipei. Starting its operation. Formerly known as Chiang Kai-shek International Airport till the third quarter of 2006, it was ranked the best airport for its size in the Asia-Pacific region by Airports Council International in 2016.

To reach the airport, my BFF and I took Bus 1819 from Kuo Kuang Bus Terminal in Taipei. A one-way ticket costs NT$125.00 (~S$5.65).

The bus to the airport operates 24/7 with intervals of 15 to 30 minutes.

On average, the trip to the airport takes about 55 minutes, but we reached within 40 minutes as the roads were pretty much empty before dawn.

Including the two of us, there were only five passengers taking the bus at 3.45am that day.

Free Wi-Fi connection is available on all buses.
The bus dropped us at the arrival level of Terminal 2.

Is that supposed to be a mouse or what?

Up, up and away~
The departure level was quite lively at 5.00am.

What a large group of passengers!

Have you experienced any of EVA Air's Sanrio-themed flight? As we'd be having our very first Hello Kitty experience, we went straight to the special self check-in kiosks.

So pink! :D

"This is Captain Kitty speaking~"
Would you like to collect all these as memorabilia?

To date, I still haven't opened the deck of playing cards I got from the flight.

Does the abbreviation "K.T." on the astronaut suit actually refer to Kitty? :P
To tell a story, we weren't able to do self check-in and thus had to the counter handling the flight BR225 from Taipei to Singapore. Given that the screen monitors didn't show Sanrio characters, I asked the staff whether the flight that I'd booked would grant me the Hello Kitty experience. My heart sank the moment she said it wasn't the case for the day. Feeling truly disappointed, especially after receiving a normal boarding pass, I dragged my feet to the immigration checkpoint area.

Don't you love those reflections on the floor?

I suppose there are some goods from Chia Te sold there.
Let's see what's on the upper floor.

There's a small food court with four stalls if I'm not mistaken.

EVA Air operates four lounges at the airport: The Club, The Garden, The Infinity and The Star.

Singapore Airlines operates a SilverKris Lounge at the airport.

There was a painting exhibition titled 'When Dessert Meets Desire'.

Along the way to the gates, we saw some Hello Kitty decor, which only added to our disappointment.

One second later an airport personnel appeared from the door.

If you're interested, do spend some time looking at the various thematic gates.

Victoria's Secret spotted!

I remember seeing travel books at Gate C5: Library Waiting Lounge

There are more Hello Kitty stuff that made us feel even more dejected.

Gate C3, the Hello Kitty gate, was assigned to BR271 to Manila, the Philippines.

My sister used to like Hello Kitty so much.

The Statue of Liberty and Taj Mahal in one place? xD
We made our way to Gate C2 where we'd be boarding the aircraft to bring us home.
