TWN: Taipei 101 Observatory

7 Xinyi Road Section 5, Taipei, Taiwan
Daily: 9.00am - 10.00pm

Classified as the world's tallest building in 2004 till the completion of Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2010, Taipei 101 is a skyscraper landmark in Xinyi District of the capital city of Taiwan. It stands at 509.2 m with a total of 106 floors, five of which are basement levels.

Even though it was drizzling, I walked all the way to the building from Rilakkuma Café with my BFF.

FYI, there are many bus routes originating from and terminating at Taipei City Hall.

I see Taipei 101 and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall painted on the bull sculpture.

We made our way to the fifth floor where the entrance to the observatory is located.

High-end shops abound!

Seeing that instantly reminded me of the rainbow flag. Haha... :P

Well, there's a rainbow indeed in the drawing on the wall near the entrance.

Souvenirs, anyone?
Instead of queueing at the counter, we purchased our tickets from one of the ticketing machines using my credit card. An adult ticket costs NT$600.00 (~S$27.05).

We had a bit of time to look around before taking the elevator up to the observatory.

Monkey God, or rather, Damper Baby God! xD

You can see when some of the world's renowned celebrities visited Taipei 101.
Let's go up, shall we? You'll reach the observatory on the 88th floor in 45 seconds.

It used to be the world's fastest elevator with a maximum speed of 1,010 m/min from 2004 to 2015.

Welcome to the 88th floor!

Are you interested in a VR experience?

"Ice cream? Moo~"

My first shot with the black damper baby!

As it was still drizzling, the view wasn't particularly nice due to the fog.

Silent Hill? =X

Thankfully, the sky gradually cleared up.

I believe the one with a helipad is the city hall building.

I haven't been to Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall before.
There's an interactive panel for you to locate the various landmarks.

There's an interesting corner with mirrors above and below you.

I suppose not only ladies but also guys with short shorts need to beware.

Don't forget to check out the world's largest and heaviest wind damper with a diameter close to 5.5 m and a weight of 660 tonnes.

Which one is your favourite?

My second shot with the gold damper baby!
It was a pity that the outdoor observatory on the 91st floor was closed that afternoon.

You'll pass through a coral exhibition by Chii Lih Coral before reaching the elevator to go down to the fifth floor.

The world's tallest gemstone coral is 141 cm tall and 131 cm wide, excluding the wooden stand.

Imagine how much you need to pay for damaging it.

Did you know that a gemstone coral takes ten years to grow by 1 cm?

The almighty dragon~

Such a lovely jade green colour~

Awwwwww, pandas! <3

If you feel like splurging, there are lots of precious items for you to choose from.

Thank you for the experience!

I suppose they've set the maximum speed to 600 instead of 1,010 m/min for normal usage.
Before I forget, do find a rubber stamp near the souvenir shop on the 88th floor if you're interested.

Do note that the regulation states that visitors aren't allowed to wear slippers to the observatory.
