Ha Long Bay, Ha Long, Vietnam After a fun time exploring  Sung Sot Cave , we made our way to Ti Top Island, one of the most well-known islands at Ha Long Bay. It was named after Gherman Stepanovich Titov, a Soviet cosmonaut respected by Vietnam, on the occasion of his first visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1962.

Ha Long Bay, Ha Long, Vietnam Daily: 8.00am - 6.00pm Sung Sot Cave (lit. Surprise Cave) is the most famous limestone cave at Ha Long Bay where many cruise passengers drop by year in, year out. It was discovered by the French in 1901, but it was only 92 years later when it was first opened to the public.

Ha Long, Vietnam Ha Long Bay (lit. Bay of Descending Dragon), a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its scenic ocean karst topography, is approximately 170 km away from the capital city. Some of you may be asking, "Where are the panoramic pictures?" as I didn't really put any in the previous post on Golden Lotus Cruise . Fret not, they're here in this post.

Ha Long Bay, Ha Long, Vietnam The highlight of the trip was the 2D1N cruise at the scenic Ha Long Bay, away from the suffocating haze that befell the capital city. My BFF and I decided to give the family-friendly Golden Lotus Cruise (3*) a try, selecting the small cruise ship that has got eight rooms and thus not crowded.
