QAT: Katara Cultural Village

Along Shakespeare Street and Al Moasses Street, Doha, Qatar Daily: 24 hours The name of the comprehensive cultural village located south of The Pearl-Qatar is inspired by the historical name of the country, Catara, prior to the 18th century. Said to be "born out of a long-held vision to position the State of Qatar as a cultural beacon and lighthouse of art, it first opened its doors in the last quarter of 2010.

BGM: Grand Place

Old Town, Brussels, Belgium La Grand-Place (French) or Grote Markt (Dutch) is the central square in the old town district. Considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in Europe with its surrounding opulent buildings, it has been listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1998. 

NLD: Dam Square

Dam, Amsterdam, the Netherlands Dam Square is a bustling town square in the capital city of the Netherlands. There's always something going on there regardless of the season. Originally a dam on Amstel River built in 1270, it formed the first connection between the various settlements on either side of the river.

GEO: Kartlis Deda View Point

Sololaki Hill, Tbilisi, Georgia Daily: 24 hours In conjuction with the 1,500th anniversary of Georgia in 1958, the statue of Kartlis Deda (lit. Mother of a Georgian) was born. The 20 m tall aluminium figure of a woman in the national dress was conceived by Elguja Amashukeli, a prominent local sculptor at that period of time.

PHI: Intramuros

Manila, the Philippines Intramuros (lit. Within the Walls) is the oldest district of the capital city of the Philippines. It covers an area of 0.67 square kilometres, surrounded by stone walls and fortifications that almost completely surrounds the entire district.

MAS: Signal Hill Observatory Platform

Jalan Bukit Bendera, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia Daily: 8.00am - 12 midnight Upon returning to Kota Kinabalu from the mountainous region, my BFF and I immediately put some of our belongings at Dreamtel Kota Kinabalu before starting our exploration since we only had one full day there. Our journey began with a short trek from Padang Merdeka to Signal Hill, which is the highest point in the city.

MAS: Kiau Gap View @ Kinabalu Park

Kinabalu Park, Ranau, Malaysia To end off the series of posts on Kinabalu Park, I'm going to write about Kiau Gap View to commemorate the victims of the 2015 Sabah earthquake. My BFF and I visited the monument on 9 June this year, just a few days more than two years since the earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck the region on 5 June 2015.

CAM: Independence Monument & King Norodom Sihanouk Statue

Preah Sihanouk Boulevard 274, Phnom Penh, Cambodia Today's entry is a very short one on two important landmarks in the capital city of Cambodia, which can be found along one of the main roads called Preah Sihanouk Boulevard 274. The picture below shows the Independence Monument that was built in 1958 after gaining independence from France in 1953.

FJI: International Date Line

Government Station Road, Taveuni, Fiji Pikachu and Melon were less than 2 m apart, but they were separated by 24 hours. Today, I shall talk about the real International Date Line (IDL) that passes through Taveuni in Fiji. The currently established line actually skirts around Fiji rather than following the actual 180th meridian to avoid having two abruptly different zones within the country.
