TRY: Istanbul Ataturk Airport

Yesilkoy Neighbourhood, Istanbul, Turkey

Istanbul Ataturk Airport is the biggest and busiest airport in Turkey. First opened in 1912 as a military airfield, it used to be called Yesilkoy Airport before being renamed in honour of the founder and first president of the country. It's located approximately 24 km to the west of the city centre.

My BFF and I made use of the free shuttle service offered by WOW Istanbul Hotel to go to the airport.

The shuttle service serves both WOW Istanbul Hotel and WOW Airport Hotel.

As the airport is surrounded by urban settlements, it's impossible for expansion to address the growing problem of air traffic congestion. At the point of writing, the new airport in the Arnavutkoy district is slated to open sometime in the last quarter of 2018.

Crowded as usual...

That'd be my virgin experience with Saudia!

My sister dropped by to say goodbye, even though I told her not to come. Well, see you again soon!

After immigration clearance, I told myself to wander about the transit area for the last time before the airport is closed down for scheduled passenger flights in the near future.

I haven't had the opportunity to visit that elegant lounge.

Care for one last cone of Turkish ice cream before leaving the country?

Do you usually purchase alcohols at duty-free shops?

A model of luxurious waterfront apartments~
The international terminal has got only 27 gates, each equipped with a jet bridge, as well as several bus-boarding stands.

Feeling satisfied from the exploration, we made our way to the SkyTeam Lounge.
