SIN: Sentosa Sandsation 2018 [till 16 September 2018]

Siloso Beach, Sentosa Island, Singapore
Daily: 10.00am - 9.00pm

Let's take a quick break from the European adventure by looking at something held locally. 'Sentosa Sandsation' is the biggest sand sculpting festival in Southeast Asia. Even if you're not a fan of Marvel superheroes, it's worth visiting the free exhibition that's held at Siloso Beach from 1 to 16 September 2018.

In conjunction with the event, local residents get to enjoy complimentary island admission via Sentosa Express. Nevertheless, my BFF and I walked all the way from VivoCity as the weather was really nice.

Honestly, I didn't notice Spider-Man there until I uploaded this photo.

Here are the first few superheros that you'll see when you enter the tented area.

Black Widow exclaims, "Wanna fight? Bring it on!"

Captain America has always been evil, right?

Iron Man looks pretty relaxed there.
Anyway, who is your favourite superhero?

“You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!”

Did you know that Doctor Strange is Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe?

Damn, look at those arm muscles!
Most of the sculptors are Westerners, but there's one proudly Singaporean artist and two from Japan.

The International Sand Sculpting Championship was ongoing when we were there. One person will eventually get to walk away with the prestigious Golden Shovel Award.

Is that Oda Nobunaga?

Of nuts and bolts~

Transform! Sculpt your body!

The baby's face looks so peaceful.

I wish I could have those muscle definitions. Haha...
Take some time to watch a short clip on how the sculpting was done.

Our internationally-acclaimed local sculptor, Tan Joo Heng, is hailed as 'Vincent Sand Gogh' by the Daily Mail that's based in London, the UK.

Those with kids aged 5 and above may want to sign them up for sand sculpting workshops held daily at 11.00am, 2.00pm and 5.00pm. Registration has to be done on the spot on a first-come-first-served basis.

What are you waiting for? Drop by Siloso Beach to marvel at the intricate sculptures. Pun intended!
