Ha Long Bay, Ha Long, Vietnam
The highlight of the trip was the 2D1N cruise at the scenic Ha Long Bay, away from the suffocating haze that befell the capital city. My BFF and I decided to give the family-friendly Golden Lotus Cruise (3*) a try, selecting the small cruise ship that has got eight rooms and thus not crowded.
We hopped onto the shared van that picked us up at the now-defunct Jasmine Garden Hotel at 7.30am. The journey, including a pit stop, took more than 3 hours.
The de facto pit stop area, I guess. |
The shop has a wide variety of goods, though the prices have been marked up. |
Upon reaching Tuan Chau Port, our guide quickly got us our tickets and subsequently asked us to take the small boat that'd bring us to the cruise ship.
The 2D1N sightseeing ticket costs 320,000 VND (~S$19.45), but it's included in the cruise price. |
We took the nearest boat from where I was standing to take this picture. |
Hello, cruise ship! |
We were gathered at the dining area to sip on the welcome drink of orange juice, which I didn't take a picture of, and to collect our room keys.
Spotless cabin! :) |
So old school~ |
Essential toiletries, as well as a hair-dryer (not shown), can be found in your cabin. |
The cruise includes a visit to Sung Sot cave and Ti Top island, as well as kayaking the next day. I'll be writing about them in separate posts.
Somehow I was reminded of Titanic. Haha... |
Sunbathing at the sundeck was good~ |
Would you like to man the cruise ship? |
Four meals are included on the cruise price:
lunch,
dinner and
breakfast onboard, as well as the
farewell lunch at one of the restaurants at the port. We also had the chance to make Vietnamese spring rolls.
That's the dining area and the bar. |
The spring rolls were then deep-fried and served at dinner. |
In the evening, you can sing karaoke, do squid fishing or simply relax at the deck.
We had a really good night sleep after all the activities for the day.
