NLD: Albert Cuyp Market

Albert Cuypstraat, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Mon-Sat: 9.00am - 5.00pm

Named after Aelbert Jacobsz Cuyp, a leading Dutch landscape painter of the 17th century, Albert Cuyp Market has been around since 1905. It used to be operating once a week, only on Saturday to be specific. It's the largest day market in not only the Netherlands, but also the entire Europe with more than 300 stalls.

I recall that the bustling market wasn't short of fresh produce in the afternoon.

Is that a kind of eel?

Cheaper than the ones at Amsterdam Cheese Museum, of course, but less variety~
Feeling peckish? There are food stalls offering all sorts of mouth-watering snacks.

How about some poffertjes (Dutch mini pancakees)?

What's your favourite nut?
Special mention goes to Original Stroopwafels. I can never say no to those thin waffles filled with caramel syrup.

Serving stroopwafels for more than 45 years and counting!

A happy 'kid' with his snack!
Besides food, there are all sorts of items being sold at the market, ranging from plants to accessories.

Would you like to wear wooden clogs?

Firm, yet fluffy pillows!

Besides the various stalls, there are bigger fashion and souvenir shops along the way, some of which offer immediate tax refund.
