St. Anne's Church is one of the most notable churches with a Neoclassical facade in Poland. Construction of the building began in 1454, but the church was subsequently reconstructed several times. The present architecture has stood the test of time since 1788.
In 1582, a slender tower was added to the church building.

The facade features statues of the Four Evangelists: John, Luke, Matthew and Mark. |
|
At present, it's the main church parish of the academic community in Warsaw. |
Be awed by the magnificent Baroque style interior.
I was awestruck by the shiny organ.
Given that the church has survived many ordeals, it ranks among Warsaw's oldest buildings.
|
Don't you love the intricate design? |
|
Those patterns are pretty nice. |
One of the rooms looks patriotic. Anyway, there was a patriotic demonstration that took place in front of the church on 27 February 1861, which unfortunately ended in much bloodshed.
|
Polonia semper fidelis means 'always faithful'. |
One of the bishops, Jozef Kossakowski, was executed in front of the church as a traitor of the nation during the Warsaw Uprising.
