NLD: Bloemenmarkt
Singel, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Mon-Sat: 9.00am - 5.30pm
Sun: 11.00am - 5.30pm
Founded in 1862, Bloemenmarkt (lit. Flower Market) used to be the world's only floating flower market. While most of the stalls are now perched on piles, the market is still a popular to buy real tulips when in season and bulbs all year round. It goes without saying that the market is one of the major suppliers of flowers in Amsterdam.
Of course, there are more than just tulips.

The tulip season runs from the end of March till the middle of May. As I was there in June, I didn't see any of the flowers.
What's your favourite tulip colour? To me, blue is the best. |
What an interesting way to write an 'f' in "Don't touch the flowers, please". |
Given that you can only buy one of the following, which one would you get for your loved one?
Peony roses are lovely! |
You can also find other things like cacti and non-living things, such as fake flowers and animal figurines to decorate your garden.
Those crocodile and hippopotamus figurines are pretty entertaining. |
The last shop that I dropped by at the other end seems to be the most attractive in terms of appearance with those hanging flowers and leaves.
In winter, one can expect a variety of greenhouse-grown blooms and Christmas trees being sold, together with holiday decorations.
