NLD: CitizenM Schiphol Airport Hotel

If you're looking for a trendy hotel that's not too exorbitant in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, you may want to consider CitizenM (4*). Since we'd be getting an Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket each, my BFF and I decided to stay near Schiphol Airport since it takes only 20 minutes to reach Amsterdam Centraal by train.


The pioneer branch near the airport, which has got a total of 230 guest rooms, was opened in 2008. Within a span of 10 years, the brand has grown to more than ten branches globally.



The moment we entered the building, we were greeted by a friendly staff of Indonesian descent at the check-in area. From the self check-in monitor, I chose a room on the highest floor facing the runway and then proceeded to pay the city tax as I did the booking via a third-party website.

How would you rate this modern art piece?
Buffet breakfast is served daily from 6.00am to 11.00am, but my booking didn't include complimentary breakfast. CanteenM serves food and drinks 24/7, so you can always grab something downstairs whenever you're hungry.


Described as a classy rabbit, Ricebonbon would love to accompany you at the bar counter. :)

The innovative room isn't big, but certainly comfortable and functional.


The safe deposit box is quite small though.

There are two types of 2-in-1 shampoo and body wash: CitizenAM and CitizenPM. I prefer the latter.
I found the bed to be especially comfy. Seated there was Marvin, which you should've seen in the very first picture above. You can bring it home for €22.50 (~S$35.30); my BFF actually did. I've already got too many soft toys at home. xD


Make use of the big drawer under the bed to put your luggage.
I enjoyed looking at aircraft passing by through the window. There are window blinds though.


The smart room can be controlled by the tablet. There are many complimentary movies that you can enjoy during your stay.

21-20 Tsubaki-cho, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan Bringing me a smile indeed, Smile Hotel Nagoya Shinkansenguchi (3*) lives up to its name with its prime location not far from the entrance to the bullet train platform of Nagoya station. For the price point, I'm not sure if there are any other hotels around offering free-flowing freshly grilled unagi (Japanese freshwater eel) for breakfast.
