FJI: Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool
Sabeto Valley, Nadi, Fiji
Mon-Sat: 9.00am - 5.00pm
On one of the days at the island of Viti Levu, my BFF and I signed up for a private tour that cost us FJD 150.00 (~S$97.60) per person. Yes, it certainly burned a hole in each of our pockets, but we really dislike group tours. Besides, we could go here and there without having to worry too much about time with our gregarious and knowledgeable driver. Our first stop was the Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool.

We'd wanted to go to the nearby Garden of the Sleeping Giant first, thinking that it'd be great if we could soak ourselves in the hot spring after walking around at the famous arboretum. However, since we were too early, the garden was still closed.
That's our cool and friendly driver! |
The entrance fee to the hot springs and mud pool is FJD 20.00 (~S$13.00). The temperature of the central hot spring hovers between 75 and 80 degree Celsius all year round. Obviously, that's not for anyone to jump into! :P
The owner's dog was sleeping so peacefully~ |
After changing, the burly owner helped us apply warm mud all over our body. At the same time, he told us about his stories as a rugby player, having visited Singapore and Malaysia before to play the game. Anyway, that was my very first time playing with mud, which had a strong mineral smell.
Did we look like statues? :P |
We had to air dry ourselves to get the most out of the therapeutic mud. |
Before entering the clean hot spring pool, we had to go through three separate pools to ensure that all the mud had been washed off.
After spending around 5 minutes at each of the three pools, we finally made our way to the last one to relax, where the water temperature was between 35 to 40 degree Celsius. My skin felt so smooth and supple at the end of it.
Ahhhhh, paradise~ |
You really have to go to there and try it for yourself. At the point of writing, it's ranked #1 of 46 things to do in Nadi on TripAdvisor.
