Preah Sisowath Quay, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Literally meaning 'large freshwater river', Tonlé Sap river flows from the lake at Siem Reap, which is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia designated as a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1997. The riverside is a popular place for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the view, along with the gentle breeze of the wind.
Before crossing the road to the riverside from where the tour bus dropped us, we had a brief source of entertainment from the street peddler selling all sorts of bugs. Too bad we couldn't tried any as we had made it clear right from the start that none of us were to consume any street food.

Of all the varieties, I'm most curious about the taste of water bugs. |
We were greeted by two warrior statues of Techo Meas and Techo Yat, erected to commemorate their patriotism in protecting the country during the war in the past. Standing tall across the river is Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel and Residence, which is the most luxurious 5* hotel in town according to our tour guide.

Defend our country, we must! |

The majestic Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel and Residence! |
It was fun guessing all the country flags as I walked down the riverside.
|
Ahh, the flag of the country where my sister is studying right now~ |
|
I purposely took a picture of this because I love Canada! :P |
|
Wefie with our tour guide, Sam, and my friendly and ever-helpful colleague! :) |
We also saw the Royal Palace across the busy road. The bars and restaurants became more and more lively as the sun started to set.
There's a night market nearby, which shall be the topic of the next entry. :)
