Taroko National Park, Hualien, Taiwan
Buluowan is one of the few flatland areas at Taroko that was previously inhabited by two aboriginal tribes, the Truku and the Shisanhang. It's said to be a great place for picnic on a clear day, which I can understand why after reaching the area.
I actually underestimated the distance from the beginning of the
Swallow Grotto Trail to Buluowan, especially given that the latter is at a much higher altitude. My BFF and I walked all the way there. It was certainly a good exercise prior to lunch.

That seems like a small, but lovely park. |
Let the hike begin~ |
We sighted quite a number of monkeys as we trekked up the hill. They moved very fast though, so it was difficult to snap a picture of them.
Can you spot one monkey in this picture? |
That's actually a huge spider, which would certainly scare my sister away. |
After a long walk, we finally reached Buluowan. The first thing that we did upon arrival was to take out some snacks to eat.
I guess you can see how sweaty I was. :P |
Bloom, dear flowers~ |
Pound, pound those millets! |
Just like the case at the Swallow Grotto Trail, we were the only two trekkers at Buluowan that late morning.
The building nearest to me is the visitor centre, which we didn't go inside. |
Let's take a look at the small exhibition room showcasing the interior of a traditional house. |
Pikachu was helping to prepare lunch. xD |
Melon: "Welcome to my humble abode!" :D |
There's an accommodation at the upper terrace called Leader Village Taroko Hotel.
Climbing up again~ |
There are lots of wooden sculptures for your eyes to feast on.
We are all one family~ |
Hello, wild boar! |
Dear hunter, please don't shoot the deer. |
A dog is a man's best friend! :) |
After that, we walked all the way back to the bus stop before the Swallow Grotto Trail. I'm sure we'd burned more than enough calories for the day.
I don't know why, but this looks quite cool. Do you feel the same way? |
What an interesting bug, but it was already dead. :( |
Waiting for the bus... |
We managed to reach around 10 minutes before Bus 302 came to bring us to Tianxiang.
