Taroko National Park, Hualien, Taiwan
It's said that the best place to view the magnificent gorge of Taroko is the Swallow Grotto located after Buluowan. My BFF and I were lucky as it wasn't raining at all in the morning, on top of the fact that we were the only two trekkers at the trail.
We began our journey by purchasing a one-day ride pass each from an amiable driver of Bus 302 for NT$150.00 (~S$6.75).

The bus driver dropped us near the start to the scenic Zhuilu Old Trail, which we didn't go for. You need to have permits from both the national park and a local police bureau.

Due to occasional falling rocks, it's advisable to wear a safety helmet that's rented out for free. We didn't borrow any though.

It was a pity that we didn't get to see any swallows that day.

Nearby is a small park named after Jin Heng, an engineer who was killed by falling rocks after an earthquake while he was involved in the designing of the Cross-Island Highway.
