Angkor Archaelogical Park, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Daily: 5.00am - 6.00pm
Angkor Wat (lit. Capital Temple) was constructed around the first half of 12th century by King Suryavarman II. Originally constructed as a Hindu temple of God Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, it gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the same century. It stands as the largest temple complex in the world, measuring 162.6 hectares.
Having had a good night sleep and heavy breakfast, My BFF and I were ready to explore the huge temple site.

The naga's head was restored, but that's not the case for the poor lion. |
Dear lotus, why didn't you bloom? |
No sitting, please! |
Tomb raiding! |
There are many things to see along the way to Angkor Wat.
I've always loved the view of ruins~ |
Angkor Wat overlooks two ponds, one of which is shown in this picture. |
There are wild monkeys within the complex. I was lucky to be able to take a snap of one of them. Anyway, for those who want to pose in front of Angkor Wat like a knight on horseback, you can do so there.
So much for the side attractions; it's now time to take a look at the main building.
I can't tell if any of those is a result of vandalism... |
I wonder what those writings mean? |
Oh, wall, tell me your story~ |
The central courtyard seems to be one of the places where visitors congregate.
Peek-a-boo! :P |
Was the head looted? |
Blessed by the monk~ |
Not surprisingly, Angkor Wat is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture.
Melon was trying to get some breeze by sitting there. |
There was a snaking queue to climb up one of the towers for an aerial view of the complex. We were too lazy to to do so.
The rest of the time was spent exploring the grounds.
The steps are pretty steep. |
I refused to wear my cap while getting my picture taken. xD |
Melon was the one who wore it in the end. |
What lies beyond the forested area? |
We took close to two hours to wander about the complex. It was fun, to say the least.
Following which, our tuk-tuk driver brought us to
Khmer Village Restaurant within the archaeological park for lunch before we continued our Small Circuit tour.
