EST: Tallinn Passenger Port

Old City Harbour, Tallinn, Estonia

One of the five ports within the state-owned company Port of Tallinn, Tallinn Passenger Port is the biggest and busiest in Estonia. As the main gateway to Tallinn Old Town, it has seen a steady increase in the number of passengers annually, which has almost doubled from approximately 5.7 million in 2001.

Together with other eager passengers, my BFF and I disembarked Tallink MS Megastar and made our way to Tallinn Old Town by foot.

There's a hotel near Terminal D of the port called Tallinn Seaport Hotel.

Looking for something to drink, I bought a bottle of rhubarb lemonade from a supermarket inside the nearby Nautica Shopping Centre.

There are some interesting sights at the harbour.

The roads were rather quiet that afternoon.

"Life's roughest storms prove the strength of our anchors."

That's a tugboat winch from Steamship Admiral, which I'm going to introduce to you below.

Now a small maritime museum, Steamship Admiral was built in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1955. Registered as a historic vessel in the Estonian Maritime Museum in 1993, the ship not only sailed for 40 years, but also participated in numerous ship parades in Helsinki and Kotka, Finland, as well as Hamburg, Germany.

After a day of fun at Tallinn Old Town, we made it back in time to Tallinn Passenger Port. We printed our tickets using one of the self check-in machines available.

After getting our tickets, we went straight to the departure area.

Helsinki is Helsingi in Estonian.

So empty! I suppose many people would prefer to shop onboard the cruiseferry.

While waiting for the boarding call to be made, I observed many cars loading themselves into MS Megastar.

I'd definitely love to explore more of Estonia next time.
