JPN: Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi

11 Higashikujo - Nishisanno-cho, Minami, Kyoto, Japan

Sotetsu Fresa Inn (3*) is a hotel chain in Japan that prides itself in having each and every hotel "located within a 5-minute walk from a major city station". If you're wondering, the name Fresa is an acronym for 'FREsh, Sense and Amenity'. For our first three nights, my family and I stayed at the branch near Kyoto station.

After clearing immigration and retrieving our luggage, we went to JR Kansai Airport station to pick up our pre-purchased 4-day JR Kansai Area Pass from the ticketing office. Subsequently, we proceeded to board the Kansai Airport Express HARUKA for a smooth and convenient ride to Kyoto station in one hour and fifteen minutes.

The Hello Kitty-themed train has been in service since early 2019.

Inside one of the lavatories!
There are 138 guest rooms distributed from the second to the seventh floor of the building. As is common in many hotels in Japan, you can find vending machines and coin-operated laundry facilities.

The hotel does not offer larger family-sized rooms, but we managed to book two connecting rooms to accommodate our needs.

The hotel is furnished with mattresses by Serta, an American company founded in 1931.

With only a few photos that don't fully showcase the variety of food and beverages available, I've decided not to feature the buffet breakfast in my food blog. Anyway, what I can say is that each morning offered an incredibly satisfying experience.

The miso (Japanese fermented rice, barley and/or soybean) soup was brimming with vegetables.

Love me some iced coffee!
I noticed some handmade ornaments in the dining area.

Did you know that, at the point of writing, Sotetsu Fresa Inn also operates one hotel at Myeong-dong in Seoul, South Korea?
