JPN: Toyoko Inn JR Wakayama-eki Higashi-guchi

2-1-7 Kuroda, Wakayama City, Wakayama, Japan

A chain of Japanese business hotels founded in 1986, Toyoko Inn (3*) has been expanding rapidly since the 1990s. At the point of writing, the franchise boasts an extensive network with over 300 branches, including overseas ones in the Philippines, South Korea, France and Germany. My family and I stayed for two nights at the branch near Wakayama station.

Members of Toyoko Inn Club can check in starting at 3.00pm, while the standard check-in time is set at 4.00pm for non-members. The check-out time is at 10.00am.

I booked a family room, which isn't as big as the one at Henn-na Hotel Nara, but with ample space for four people.

The room is equipped with two double beds.

Here are two photos of the view from the room, capturing the cityscape in the gentle embrace of the setting sun.

Breakfast, served from 6.30am to 9.00am daily, is included in the room rate.

This photo was taken during non-breakfast hours, thus it was pretty empty.
I'm not sure if it's still the case now, but as of 2001, the chain has been known for almost exclusively hiring women, with 95% of the workforce being female. It was a male front desk staff who attended to me during check-in though.
