JPN: Henn-na Hotel Nara

46-1 Takama-cho, Nara City, Nara, Japan

I first found out about Henn-na Hotel (4*) through my friend's social media posts detailing her stay at the Huis Ten Bosch branch in Nagasaki Prefecture. Intrigued by the world's first robot-staffed chain of hotels registered under the Guinness World Record, I decided to check out the Nara branch that's located near Kintetsu Nara station.

Henn-na is a Japanese adjective that means 'strange'. At the point of writing, there are more than 20 branches across Japan. The expansion has also extended beyond the country, with one branch each in Seoul, Korea and New York, the USA.

I didn't encounter any issue when checking in with the velociraptor hologram.

Amenities are placed near the reception counter. Additionally, there are vending machines and a microwave on the first floor.

The hotel has got five rooms that can accommodate four people. Unlike in some of the branches, however, it's a pity that there are no interesting robotic features inside the guest rooms.

In the context of Japanese hotels, the room is remarkably huge.

The bathroom and toilet are separate.

Simple French style breakfast is served at the vibrant-looking restaurant from 7.00am to 10.00am.

Despite being marketed as a robot-staffed chain of hotels, there are human staff members around to assist guests whenever needed.
