PHI: The Mabuhay Manor

F. B. Harrison Street, Manila, the Philippines

The Mabuhay Manor (3*) is proud to be the first balikbayan (lit. homecoming) hotel in the capital city of the Philippines. I'm not too sure why, but the hotel does feel pretty homely. It's located not far away from Baclaran, which seems to be a popular shopping district.

Usually expressed as "Mabuhay!", the word is used in a greeting. It takes on various meanings, including 'long live', 'cheers', etc.

It'd been a while since I last saw a rocking chair.

The hotel has a few function rooms with karaoke system installed.

There's a board dedicated for words of the day from the Bible.
It's quite surprising that the hotel houses a dental clinic.

I don't think it was opened when I was there though.

The hotel was dead quiet.
The room my BFF and I were assigned to was spotless.

One of the staff took it upon himself to carry our luggage and put them above the cupboard.

The toilet is pretty small.

Look at the Wi-Fi password, as well as the 'do not disturb' sign.

The buffet breakfast features a selection of Filipino dishes. Read here to find out more.

Local sweets, anyone?

Before checking-out and making use of the airport transfer service that's included in the room rate, we took a quick walk around the hotel.

I believe that should be one of the function rooms, overlooking the swimming pool.

I remember seeing a sign saying that they sell fresh coconut water there.

As mentioned in the previous post, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from SM Mall of Asia. The van departs from the hotel at 10.00am, 3.00pm and 8.00pm, and from the shopping mall fountain near Starbucks at 10.20am, 3.20pm and 8.20pm daily.
