CAM: Ta Prohm

Angkor Archaelogical Park, Siem Reap, Cambodia
Daily: 5.00am - 6.00pm

Originally called Rajavihara, Ta Prohm is slowly being reclaimed by nature with trees growing out of the ruins. It has become more well-known to the world ever since it was used a shooting location in the making of the Tomb Raider movie, where Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft.

The Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap (APSARA) and the Archaeological Survey of India are collaborating in the conservation and restoration of Ta Prohm.

Can you see the deformed face carving on the gopura?

My BFF and I entered from the west gate.
It's said that more than half of the temple complex have been restored, some of which have been constructed from scratch.

That umbrella kinda ruins the picture... :/

It looks less dilapidated than Banteay Kdei.

A permanently sealed passage?
We were surrounded by huge, imposing trees.

Slanted at more than 30 degrees! :O

Imagine if they can move~
There's one particular area where most people would stop by and queue to get their pictures taken. That's where the huge Tetrameles nudiflora, a deciduous tree, stands tall above the ruins.

Again, I was too lazy to join the queue.

We walked further a little bit before returning to the west gate.

Walking down the corridor~

See you, Ta Prohm!
Can you guess which temple were we heading to next?
