CHN: Splendid China (Part 2)

Shennan Avenue, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China
Daily: 9.00am - 9.00pm

Welcome to Part 2 of Splendid China, a theme park that showcases the most iconic sights of China in the Overseas Chinese Town of Shenzhen. While Part 1 covers the cultural village area, Part 2 focuses on the miniature park section. At least Pikachu and Melon can say that they've conquered the Great Wall without having to go to Beijing.

Before jumping into the miniatures, why not take a look at the Chinese zodiac signs?

I bet the twin dragons are having fun playing with the ball.

Is that a peach in front of the monkey?

Pikachu aspires to be as chubby as the pig.

Also, marvel at some replicas of Buddha statues.

There are tens of thousands of sattues of Shakyamuni Buddha and his disciples at Longmen Grottoes in Henan province.

Built during the Tang dynasty, Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan province stands at 71 m.

I may not be able to name most of the miniatures, but I hope the photos can help satiate your travel wanderlust in this era of COVID-19 pandemic.

Have you been to the amazing Stone Forest of Shilin in Yunnan province?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but are those monasteries at Wutai Mountain in Shanxi province?

Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Monastery are independent pagodas forming a symmetric triangle.

I only took a quick look at the trees planted by some of the so-called most famous people in the world, among the likes of George H. W. Bush and Fidel Castro.

I recall there weren't many visitors there in the month of March.

All hail Emperor Pikachu!

Anyone knows which part of China is shown on this photo?

Melon was trying to sneak into the palace grounds.

Are those little human figures enjoying the scenery?

Fancy living in any of the palaces below?

That looks like a fun maze to traverse!

Quite a lovely east-west marriage, don't you think?

I'm not sure how long is the miniature of the Great Wall, but it's tastefully done for sure.

The actual length of the Great Wall is 21,196 km.

Oops, the Great Wall had to be 'chopped off' to make way for giants (read: people).
Located at the heart of Beijing, Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City were built at the beginning of the 15th century.

Tiananmen literally means 'Gate of Heavenly Peace'.

Forbidden City was the palace of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

The more I look at the various photos that I took, the more I'm convinced that I'm hardly knowledgeable about China.

Temple of Heaven was visited annually by the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties to pray for good harvest.

I'd really appreciate it if someone can identify this particular place of interest for me.

Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures buried with Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, as a symbol of protection for the emperor in his afterlife.

There are more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses.

Unfortunately, they were defeated by trash.
Care to take a photo with one of the soldiers?

At last, we saw the terminus of the Great Wall.

Are you into rock carvings?

The world's largest stone statue of Buddha in a reclining pose is at Dazu in Sichuan province.

I'm always fascinated by seal script, an ancient style of Chinese calligraphy.

Here are the last few photos to end this post.

Potala Palace is the abode of the greatest leader of Tibetan Buddhism, Dalai Lama.

Beautiful landscaping, no?

Chinese emperors used to wear robes adorned with nine dragons to symbolise longevity and eternity.

Here's a trivia: asteroid 3088 Jinxiuzhonghua was named after the park.
