Overseas Chinese Town is the colloquial name for a cluster of scenic spots in Nanshan District of Shenzhen that features a number of theme parks, such as Window of the World and Splendid China that my BFFs and I visited during our trip. Included in the area is Portofino, a residential area that's a mini recreation of the charm of Italy.

We took about 20 minutes to go to Portofino from Window of the World metro station by foot.
In Italy, Portofino is a fishing village famous for its picturesque harbour on the Italian Riviera. Having a historical association with celebrities and artistic visitors, it also houses exclusive resorts.

You won't see rugged cliffs and turquoise coves in Shenzhen's Portofino, of course, since it's smacked in the middle of the city. You can, however, enjoy tranquility there.
