In fact, the Japanese-sounding park, named after King Edward VII's Irish thoroughbred racehorse, used to be one of the first major aviation hubs in Western Canada.

7188 Westminster Highway, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada Ramada Limited Vancouver Airport (2*) is located near Minoru Park in Richmond, dubbed as the most Asian city in North America that's part of Metro Vancouver. A quick search online will lead to comments pointing out that it's a rather old property, but my BFF and I felt comfortable during our stay there.

HKG: Cathay Pacific CX810 (Business)

HKG-YVR (12h 15m) Boeing 777-300ER ETD: 4.15pm (GMT + 8) ETA:  1.30pm (GMT - 7) To share a bit of history, Cathay Pacific was conceptualised by Roy Farrell and Sydney de Kantzow to fly much-needed goods from Australia to post-war China. In 1982, it became the first airline to fly non-stop from its hub to Vancouver, Canada. It was my turn to fly there with the flag carrier of Hong Kong in June 2019.

HKG: The Bridge @ Hong Kong International Airport

Level 5, Near Gate 35, Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong Daily: 5.30am - 12.30am Cathay Pacific operates four departure lounges at Hong Kong International Airport. The Bridge is the latest addition that was declared open in October 2013. Occupying an area of 2,567 square metres, the lounge is split into two wings, north and south, without segregation for Business Class and First Class passengers.

VIE: Vietnam Airlines VN592 (Business)

HAN-HKG (2h 5m) Airbus 321 ETD: 10.25am (GMT + 7)  ETA: 1 .30pm (GMT + 8) It was time for my second flight with the flag carrier of Vietnam in the Business Class cabin, the first being onboard  VN661  from Hanoi, Vietnam to Singapore in late 2014. Till date, I've never flown with any other Vietnam Airlines' aircraft but Airbus 321, thus I've never had the chance to try its personal IFE (In-Flight Entertainment).

Level 4, International Terminal, Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, Vietnam Daily: 6.00am - 2.00am Song Hong Business Lounge is "a peaceful oasis that retains cultural heritage of Hanoi" where "traditional luxury meets modern comfort". Female staff members are dressed in traditional long silk tunics, blending with the colours of nature that are purposefully chosen for the design of the lounge.

VIE: Noi Bai International Airport [New]

Phu Minh, Soc Son, Hanoi, Vietnam Noi Bai International Airport is the largest airport in Vietnam in terms of total capacity, but it is actually second to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City in terms of land area. The former had only one terminal building, which has now become the domestic terminal  following the inauguration of the new international terminal in January 2015.

Vo Van Kiet Street, Hanoi, Vietnam Noi Bai Airport Hotel (1*) is a budget accommodation that's reachable by foot from Noi Bai International Airport within 10 minutes. It was good enough for my BFF and me as we simply needed a place to sleep before going back to Noi Bai International Airport the next morning to catch our next flight to Hong Kong.

Jalan Perancis No. 9, Jakarta, Indonesia As Qatar Airways QR956 arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia close to 3.00pm, I could've flown back to Singapore on the same day in the evening. However, as I wanted to relax a little bit more and have a Sundanese seafood dinner, I stayed there for one night. This post on J Hotel (3*) shall mark the end of my December 2018 trip series.

On top of that, it also clinched the top spot in the World’s Best Business Class category. BTW, have you ever flown on the National Day of the country of the airline?

NZL: Cornwall Park and One Tree Hill

Epsom, Auckland, New Zealand Daily: 7.00am - 7.00pm Located side by side, Cornwall Park and One Tree Hill are under different management, but Auckland Council explicitly describes them as "next to each other, and often seen as one". From exploring the expansive park to hiking up to the summit, that offers sweeping views of the city, it was a pleasant way to spend one of our afternoons in Auckland.
