JPN: Kobe City Hall Observation Deck

6-5-1 Kanocho, Chuo, Kobe, Japan
Mon-Fri: 8.15am - 10.00pm
Sat-Sun: 10.00am - 10.00pm

If you're looking for a place to get a quick aerial view of the city of Kobe, look no further than the observation deck on the 24th floor of Kobe City Hall. It's possible to observe Kobe Luminarie, an annual winter light-up held in memory of the victims of the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake, from up there, but most likely you'll need to queue for an extended period of time.

The building is located within walking distance from Hotel Sunroute Sopra Kobe and Boeki Center monorail station. Going up to the observation deck via a dedicated elevator is free of charge.

There's a restaurant and a branch of UCC Cafe on the 24th floor. UCC, which stands for Ueshima Coffee Company, is a manufacturer of coffee and tea products in Kobe.

As my BFFs and I were there in the morning, the place was really quiet.

Mount Rokko range can be seen in a distance in the north.

I didn't get the chance to witness that solar artwork, which would appear in the afternoon.
Let's look south now.

That dome-like structure is part of Kobe Luminarie.

There are some informative panels.

Look at the changes within a span of 150 years!

Kobe is a global centre for pear processing, where approximately 70% of
the world's pearl circulation takes place.
The gifts that Kobe received from other cities across the globe caught my interest, particularly the one from Riga, Latvia as shown in the last photo of this post.

Do you live in a place nestled between the mountains and the sea?
