JPN: Nagasaki Airport

593 Mishimamachi, Omura, Nagasaki, Japan

Located in Omura, one of the thirteen cities in Nagasaki Prefecture, Nagasaki Airport serves mostly domestic with a few international destinations. The airport terminal and one of the runways are situated on an island, while the shorter runway used by Japan Maritime Self-Defense Foce is on mainland Kyushu.

To go to the airport. my BFFs and I took a bus from the bus terminal that's conveniently located near APA Hotel Nagasaki Ekimae. At the point of writing, the one-way trip costs ¥1,000 (~S$13.10) per person.

There are departures roughly every 20 minutes from the bus terminal.

The journey to the airport took approximately 45 minutes.

Including the three of us, there were only six passengers that day for the 1.35pm departure.

We completed our check-in as soon as we arrived at the airport.

We'd be flying to Kobe with Skymark Airlines.
We took a quick look at the arrival area, which has got a few shops and eateries.

If you haven't buta kakuni manju , which is the Japanese version of pork belly bun,
you can get some at the departure area upstairs.
Let's go up to the second floor, which houses more establishments.

Take note that there are no shops after security clearance, so do your shopping beforehand.

Reliving good memories at Huis Ten Bosch at that small shop~

I always love looking at food models.

It's a mosaic of the airport made using 15,000 stamps.
There's only one passenger lounge that goes by the name Business Lounge Azalea, which is also located before security clearance.

One section of the departure area looks like the interior of a church.

I doubt I'd previously seen wedding gowns being displayed inside an airport.

What's a terracotta army doing there?
In 2018, there was a proposal for opening the airport 24/7 by 2020, though given the current COVID-19 situation, I don't think the plan has taken flight.
