Opened in 1958, Nagasaki Ropeway is an aerial tramway service that allows visitors to go to the top of Mount Inasa, which is said to offer one of the best three night views of Japan, located on the western side of the city of Nagasaki. There's a way to get a discounted round-trip ticket by navigating the Japanese website, which I'll talk about in this post.

To reduce the amount of walking, you can opt to take a tram to Takaramachi stop, which is less than 1 km away from the lower station. |
It took us about half an hour to reach the Shinto shrine.
Tucked away on one side of the hill, the shrine offers a peaceful atmosphere. |
The regular price of a round-trip ticket is ¥1,250 (~S$16.50) per adult. There's a way to get a discounted price of ¥1,120 (~S$14.80) per adult by printing out a discount coupon from the website and presenting it at the ticketing office. Visit https://www.inasayama.com/ropeway/, search for "往復割引券" and click on the green button labelled "往復割引券はこちら".
Take a look at some ropeway cables. |
The ropeway departs every 20 minutes from 9.00am to 6.00pm, and every 15 minutes from 6.00pm to 10.00pm.
Cable length: 1,090 m Vertical interval: 298 m |
The arrangement looks pretty neat. |
The ropeway experience lasted for about 5 minutes. |
After enjoying our time at Mount Inasa, we walked back to the upper station to take the ropeway at 7.30pm.
I didn't know that the walkway would look so dope at night. |
Just like when we took the ropeway earlier to go up to the summit, there were three other guests joining us for the ride down.
Stay tuned for more of the view in the next post! |
Thank you for the ride! |
I suppose this isn't much for a video clip, but you can hear the staff member giving safety instructions and explaining about the ropeway.
Take note that annual maintenance of the ropeway typically happens in the early part of December. It was already back in operation when we were there on 10 December 2019.
