UAE: Corniche Beach

Corniche Road, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Abu Dhabi's Corniche Beach is said to be an "immaculate outdoor destination ... overlook[ing] the glory of the open Arabian Gulf". Divided into paid and unpaid areas, the beach stretches over 2 km. My BFF and I didn't go to the paid area, which have more things going on, so this post showcases only the unpaid area.

The beach is within walking distance from Oryx Hotel. The unpaid area, however, is a bit further to the southwest.

Mamsha Al Khair is a granite monolith inscribed with the country's commitment to fostering
a culture of giving among residents and visitors.
Except for the two of us, nobody went to the beach after sunset.

You can see the 8th tallest flagpole in the world from the beach.

Don't you love the colours of the sky?
Since there wasn't much to do at the beach, we moved away from the sandy area to the slightly more lively Al Bahar at the Corniche lined with shops and eateries. I'm sure the area sees many more people during the weekend.

Are you a fan of churros?

For the uninitiated, Tim Hortons is a Canadian fast food chain specialising in donuts and coffee.

There's an open-air payable gym if you wish to do workout.

We also dropped by the beach the following morning to see Abu Dhabi's first inflatable water park by Aquafun. The largest one in the world, operated by the same company, is in Dubai.

"I <3 AD", i.e. I love Abu Dhabi, when seen from above!

Here are the sights that we missed the previous evening.

When was the last time you built a sand castle?

Such a cool-looking solar panel tree!

The entrance fee to the paid area is AED 10.00 (~S$3.70) per adult and AED 5.00 (~S$1.85) per child respectively. It's open daily from 8.00am to 8.00pm.
