JPN: Hotel Sunline Fukuoka Hakata Ekimae

4-11-18 Hakata Ekimae, Hakata, Fukuoka, Japan

Hotel Sunline Fukuoka Hakata Ekimae (3*) is a mere 5-minute walk from Hakata train station in Fukuoka, Japan. There are a few types of guest rooms at the hotel with only two Japanese style ones out of a total of 155. There's no fitness centre, let alone a swimming pool, at the hotel.

Two things about many hotels in Japan are the later check-in time and earlier check-out time than perhaps anywhere else in the world. Given that check-in can only be done from 3.00pm onwards, my BFFs and I left our luggage at the reception counter and returned to the hotel only after the sun had set.

I spoke Japanese with the staff throughout my stay, and in fact, the entire trip with the locals.

As those bathroom amenities aren't provided in the guest rooms, they can be taken from the lobby.
We were assigned to a room on the fourth floor.

It appeared that they'd combined the two double beds even though I didn't request for it. I had no issue with that at all, of course.

Only some single and semi-double rooms allow smoking. The rest are smoke-free.

Nothing much to see outside...
Take note that the temperature of the air-conditioner can't be adjusted. You can only adjust the fan speed.

As expected, the bathroom is pretty small for a room with an area of 20 square metres.

If you're staying for two nights or more, you can skip room cleaning by placing an Eco Card on the door. Fresh towels, toothbrushes, toothpastes and tea bags will be provided in a bag.

As can be seen from the photo above, you can get an Eco Coupon for playing your part in saving the Earth. Each coupon can be exchanged for one of the following: sachets of skin care items, crackers or mineral water.

Buffet breakfast is served daily from 7.00am to 10.00am. Click here for more details, which I just wrote yesterday in a bid to bridge the gap between the travel blog and the food blog.

Why so messy?

The Japanese chicken rice seems to be a pretty popular choice.

There's a Family Mart across the street and quite a number of eateries nearby.
