JPN: Yufuin Downtown

Yufuin, Oita, Japan

Yufuin is a lovely hot spring town in Kyushu with an area of approximately 127.7 square kilometres. It's located on a flat river basin surrounded by mountains with the twin-peaked Mount Yufu as the most prominent feature of the town's backdrop. Increasingly more hot spring baths are available for tourists, but quite a number remain strictly for local residents only.

My BFFs and I arrived at Yufuin by train from Beppu.

There's a waiting room inside the railway station with some artsy displays.
From the railway station, we made our way to Yufuin Kotobuki Hananosho by foot, which took only 5 minutes.

Mount Yufu stands at 1,583.3 m.

There's a nice spot to take a photo of the train track near the hotel.

Doesn't the tree in the photo below look nice?

After putting our luggage at the hotel, we went out for lunch.

Such a peaceful town with not much traffic~

There's a museum dedicated to Norman Rockwell, an American painter and illustrator.

We crossed Oita River to get to our destination.

Such pleasing colours to the eyes~

It's said that a maple tree can survive more than 300 years under appropriate climate conditions.
Sanshoro is a well-known restaurant in Yufuin that offers a pleasant view of a paddy field and Mount Yufu.

Here are some photos that I took while we walked to Yunotsubo Street for some shopping before ending up at Kinrin Lake.

I wonder when was the last time I watched Popeye the Sailorman?

What a cute model of Yufuin No Mori!

While Sanshoro is the only restaurant that we patronised in Yufuin, we also tried some croquettes from Yufuin Kinsho Korokke at Yunotsubo Street.
