PHI: SM Mall of Asia & SM by the Bay

J. W. Diokno Boulevard, Manila, the Philippines
Mon-Fri: 11.00am - 10.00pm
Sat-Sun: 10.00am - 10.00pm

SM Prime Holdings is the largest mall chain owner and developer in the Philippines, managing a total of more than 70 shopping malls. SM Mall of Asia is the fourth largest shopping mall in the country and the 11th in the world. Nearby is SM by the Bay for some exhilarating amusement rides.

My BFF and I took a cab to go to the huge shopping mall.

The eye-shaped building is Mall of Asia Arena that has a seating capacity of 15,000 for sporting events.

Would you like to take a picture with fake flamingos?
We were there on 12 June, the independence day of the Philippines. The interior of the shopping mall was adorned with many flags.

Bouncy sweets! :P
We walked across the pedestrian bridge from the shopping mall to the amusement park area.

I don't think that dome-shaped building is part of IMAX Theatre. Anyone knows what's that?
According to statistics, the daily average foot traffic at the SM Mall of Asia complex, which includes the promenade, is about 200,000 people.

Looking at how crowded it was then and 5 years ago, I'm not surprised with the statistics.

Choo choo!

Looking at this picture reminds me of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

For the hungry souls, there are a few restaurants and food kiosks around.

I remember dining at Aling Tonya's Seafood Palutuan somewhere there five years ago.

Balut (Filipino hard-boiled duck fetus) is something that I'll never dare to try.
As a form of exercise, we walked all the way from the shopping mall to the end of the promenade and back.

Sunset cruise, anyone?

Mission accomplished! :)
Although we weren't feeling that hungry, we went ahead to have a lighter dinner.

Manam offers Filipino comfort food, making waves with its creative menu.

Once we were done with dinner, we bought some snacks and waited for a shuttle van to bring us to The Mabuhay Manor where we stayed for a night.
