Paramaribo, Suriname
I shall begin with a confession that I'd been scratching my head trying to think of an appropriate title for this post. On one of the days in Paramaribo, my BFF and I embarked on a side quest to walk a long distance through the residential areas northeast of the centre of the capital city in order to reach a particular street.
We began our walk from
Eco Resort Inn at approximately 5.15pm when the weather was kinder.

Besides learning more about rum, you can partake in a mixology class at the rum house. |

For those who miss Chinese food, you may want to consider Chi Min Restaurant. |
Along the way, we saw a large patch of grassland with its inhabitants. I managed to capture a nice photo of one of them, which happened to be somewhat close to me.
As can be seen in the introductory photo, it's interesting that the names of the streets at the housing estates take after scientists' names, such as Fleming and James Watt.

Running out of Tiger Balm? Not to worry, you can always go to Soeng Ngie's Oriental Market. |
|
Expect names of Gods too, such as Poseidon and Uranus. |

There are a number of Roopram Roti shops in Paramaribo. |

I'm pretty sure that you'll think of pumpkins when you see this photo, am I right? |
After close to one hour of walking, we finally reached Josephine Samson Green Straat. For a while it really felt as if we were in Indonesia as there are so many warung (lit. small shops or eateries) on both sides of the street.

I'm pretty sure that you can also find a shop called Warung Pawiro somewhere in Java. |
After a filling dinner, we were still crazy enough to walk back to the resort.

We took a different route for a change. |

Do you love buttermilk biscuits from Popeyes? |
One of the best things about travelling is that there is always a story to tell.
