Plasa Margaret Abraham, Curaçao
Hato International Airport is located on the north coast of Curaçao, roughly about 12 km from Willemstad. The name is taken from that of a nearby town. Serving as the main base for Insel Air and Divi Divi Air, it has got the third longest commercial runway in the Caribbean.
As mentioned in my previous post on
Curaçao Suites Hotel, my BFF and I availed the free transportation from and to the airport as a perk of booking a room directly from the hotel's website.

The driver picked up an American couple from another hotel along the way. |
Upon reaching the airport, we immediately entered the terminal building and completed our check-in with Fly Allways.

Functional and spotless, but plain-looking... |

Excited to receive my boarding pass to Paramaribo, Suriname! |
As the airport departure fee isn't included in tickets booked with Fly Allways, each of us had to pay US$39.00 (~S$54.10) at the counter. After that, we checked out a small shop before proceeding to security screening and immigration.
Let's check out the shops and eateries available at the transit area.

You may want to get some chocolate filled with Blue Curaçao liqueur before leaving the island. |
|
5 Star Sports Bar doesn't seem to be getting 5* online though~ |
There's a pay-per-use lounge with a maximum capacity of 55 guests. Its opening hours are from 7.00am to 8.00pm daily.
The airport serves a few destinations in the USA, the Caribbean, South America and Europe.

There aren't that many power sockets at the transit area. |

Bring me to New York City~ |
As a bonus, here's one photo of the male toilet.
Did you know that the airport used to be one of the most important and busiest airfields in the Caribbean during World War II? It was mainly used by the US Air Force as a base to conduct anti-submarine patrols.
