Formerly known as Seoul Air International, Asiana Airlines is a Skytrax 5 Star Airline at the point of writing, which history can be traced back to 1988. It's the second largest airline in South Korea behind Korean Air, the flag carrier of the country. Did you know that it also fully owns Air Seoul, a low-cost carrier?

My BFFs and I'd be flying to Jakarta, Indonesia via Incheon International Airport in South Korea. Prior to the flight, we spent a bit of time inside ANA Lounge at Kansai International Airport.
Judging at the number of people seated in the waiting area, I believe the flight was somewhere between 50% to 75% occupied that morning. |
The route was planned to be served by the newer Airbus 350-900, but sadly it was swapped with the older Airbus 330-300 that we'd also be flying with in the second leg.
Including the three of us, there were only 8 passengers in the 30-seater Business Class cabin. |
Such a dated In-Flight Entertainment (IFE)! |
Take a look at what were stored in the literature pocket, as well as what were personally distributed by the flight attendants.
We weren't offered any welcome drinks, but each of us got a hot towel.
The safety demonstration video that was screened had alternating Korean and Japanese subtitles.
Off we went! I certainly hope to be back in Japan again after the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
I believe that's Akashi Kaikyo Bridge that links Kobe to Awaji Island. |
The flight attendants distributed the menu booklets and took our orders soon after that.
Even though the IFE onboard the aircraft is dated and not as responsive as the newer ones we see these days, it's certainly better than nothing.
Somehow, seeing that screen onboard immediately made me think of Hawaii. Anyway, Asiana Airlines does fly to Honolulu. |
I watched a short documentary titled Benefits of Mount Fuji over lunch. |
For more details of the lunch served onboard, do take a look at my food blog post.
Lunch main course #1: Grilled beef with Steamed Rice |

Let's take a look at the lavatory.
I suppose they repurposed a L'Occitane product bottle by filling it with liquid soap. |
Is there anyone who's still using Samsung Galaxy S7? |
Although I didn't intend to take a nap, I decided to try the lying down on the angled lie-flat seat. I felt that it wasn't that comfortable.
In a blink of an eye, we'd be landing soon.
Have you counted how many times have you flown till date?
Looks mystical? |
Thus far, I've only explored Jeju Island in South Korea.
