MAS: Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2

Jalan KLIA, Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia

I've been to the main terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which is the principal international airport of Malaysia, a number of times, but last year finally saw me going to its other terminal known as KLIA2 for the first time. Built at approximately MYR 4 billion (~S$1.31 billion), KLIA2 is the world's largest purpose-built terminal for low-cost carriers.

From the main terminal, my BFF and I took a KLIA Ekspres train to KLIA2. A one-way adult ticket costs MYR 1.80 (~S$0.60).

The journey between the two terminals took less than 5 minutes.

The distance between the two terminals is about 5 km.
From the train station, you need to pass through Gateway@KLIA2, which is a shopping mall with over 200 outlets.

There happened to be a Doraemon pop-up store there from 7 March to 28 April 2019.

Can anyone recognise that gadget held by Doraemon?

Go to the upper level to reach the terminal building.

KLIA2 started its operations on 2 May 2014, replacing the former low-cost carrier terminal that was opened on 23 March 2006.

To be frank, I didn't expect KLIA2 to look that modern, especially the lower level of the transit area.

There are quite a number of eateries at the public area.
We didn't linger in the public area for long. After completing the check-in process with Jetstar, we were headed straight to the transit area to escape from the crowd.

We're all beautiful in our own way, aren't we?

ERAMAN is the largest airport duty-free and travel retail operator in Malaysia.

There's quite a sizeable food court where you can fill your tummy.

The Chicken Rice Shop is no longer available in Singapore, am I right?

To satisfy our curiosity, we tried McDonald's limited-edition salted egg yolk fries, as well as chocolate and salted caramel pie. While the former was nothing much to shout about, I really enjoyed the latter. I hope McDonald's Singapore will introduce the pie someday!

Sama-Sama Express operates a lounge and a transit hotel at both KLIA and KLIA2.

The transit area seemed pretty quiet for a Saturday evening, but it wasn't a holiday season anyway.

Let's go down and take a look at more shops.

It's said that Petronas is responsible for 0.69% of global industrial greenhouse gas emissions from 1988 to 2015.

Did they dim the lights because there weren't many people around as part of an energy conservation effort?

I think I'm already sweet enough. Haha!

Having explored enough, we walked to our boarding gate. There's Plaza Premium Lounge not far from it. I've just remembered that my Priority Pass membership is going to expire sometime in 2021, and it's such a pity that I don't get to use it at all this year.

I'm not sure if you can recall, or would want to remember, but Kim Jong-nam was assassinated using VX nerve agent at KLIA2 on 13 February 2017. The incident happened at the departure hall of the terminal building.
