With my luggage in tow, I boarded the train bound for the airport, watching the cityscape slowly give way to open skies.

After checking in for my flight, I made my way to Flight of Dreams. It was a bit of a walk through a covered walkway from the terminal building.

Follow the sign that shows an aircraft with 787 written above it.

Seattle Terrace recreates the lively atmosphere of the city, which was the destination for the maiden test flight of ZA001. The area is lined with themed restaurants, cafés and shops.

The ambience is reminiscent of the famous Pike Place Market in Seattle that's been around since 1907.

Sip on a cup of Starbucks coffee while taking in the view of the aircraft.

Best of all, entry to the exhibit is completely free.

Boeing donated ZA001 to Nagoya to honour the large contribution of Japan's aerospace industry to its development.

Its first test flight was done on 15 December 2009 from Paine Field in Everett, Washington.

ZA001 has had one of its Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines replaced after a surge during a flight test.

You can have a look at the cockpit, of course!

ANA was the first airline company to operate a Boeing 787 aircraft in the last quarter of 2011.

How many of you've ever dreamt of becoming a pilot as a kid?

Flight simulators for the Boeing 787 and the Boeing 747 Dreamlifter are available, though they come with an additional fee.

The area is spacious and it wasn’t crowded at all during my visit.

Don't blame me if I'm wrong, but I think it's fine for you to try sitting there.

I guess DHL has a role to play here.

As of 2023, DHL has had more than 300 aircraft in its fleet.

Are you Team ANA or Team JAL?
There are plenty of reading materials around, but anything too heavy on Physics isn't really my cup of tea.

I still can’t shake off the horror of those Physics questions involving aircraft!

Carbon fibre reinforced polymer makes up half of the aircraft’s frame by weight.

Boeing 787-10 is able to carry more passengers, but its extended fuselage reduces its maximum flight distance.
Oh, how I wish I were a little boy again!

While the exhibit closes at 5.00 pm daily, some of the eateries at the Seattle Terrace remain open until 6.30pm.
