VIE: Tan Son Nhat International Airport

Hello again and Happy New Year 2026, everyone! Let’s continue from where we left off last month. For the final leg of the journey, I flew home with Singapore Airlines from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the main gateway to Ho Chi Minh City that takes the crown as Vietnam's busiest aviation hub.

It was a short and cheap ride to the airport using Grab from Le Saigon Hotel.


There are three terminals at the airport. Terminal 2 handles all international flights.

Business Class passengers of Singapore Airlines are invited to choose one of the available perks upon check-in.



Naturally, I wanted to check out one of the lounges at the airport.
As the airport wasn’t too busy that morning, I was soon through and into the transit area.

As of June 2025, a 60-minute body massage cost US$65.00 (~S$83.65).


These key ingredients form the base for pho (Vietnamese rice noodle soup).
The food court offers a pleasant view of the tarmac for plane spotting.



The airport not only combines civil and military operations, but also serves as a key cargo hub.

The layout of the airport is such that all gates are on the lower level.
SASCO Shop is said to offer a curated selection of over 30,000 products.

Expect a range of local silk, handicrafts, coffee and confectionery.


Long Thanh International Airport, which is located approximately 40 km east of Ho Chi Minh City, is set to open for commercial flights this year to alleviate the growing traffic of Tan Son Nhat International Airport and meet increasing passenger demand in the region.

NRT-SGN (6h 35m) Boeing 787-9 ETD:  7.10pm  (GMT + 9) ETA: 11.45pm (GMT + 7) A long-awaited first for me, flying with ANA in the Business Class cabin allowed me to receive a final dose of omotenashi (Japanese concept of wholehearted hospitality) as I left the country. The flight from to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam wasn't that long, but it offered the perfect introduction to the airline's refined service philosophy.
