In an unexpected turn of events, my BFF and I found ourselves in snowy Montreal after a 6.5-hour bus ride from Toronto. Making the best use of our time before heading to its principal airport to continue with our journey, we visited the third largest church in the province of Quebec, once a French colony of Canada.

Completed in in 1894, the cathedral is 101 m in length, 46 m in width and has a maximum height of 77 m at the copula. Above the building are statues of Mary and the patron saints of 13 parishes of Montreal that donated towards the cathedral.
The minor basilica is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Montreal.
Made in Rome, Italy, the reproduction of the canopy with twisting columns in St. Peter's Basilica, covers the altar. |
The cathedral is known as Cathédrale Marie-Reine-du-Monde in French. |
After marvelling at the cathedral, we tried to find our way to a bus stop to catch our ride to the airport.
The Cenotaph in Montreal was unveiled in 1921 to commemorate the two World Wars and the Korean War. |
Who would've thought we'd get to frolic in the snow again after several years? Though we weren't quite prepared for it, the chill was bearable, and the unexpected delight of playing in a winter wonderland made it all worthwhile.
