PAN: Tocumen International Airport

Avenida Domingo Diaz, Panama City, Panama

Tocumen International Airport is the principal international gateway to Panama, which is situated over 20 km from the capital city. Since its inauguration in 1947, it's grown to become the busiest airport in Central America. There are two terminal buildings, the second of which was opened in 2019 to accommodate the increasing demands of air travel.

As we were going to fly to Bogota, Colombia, with Copa Airlines in the Business Class cabin, we were directed to one of the Prefer Access counters for a swift and hassle-free check-in experience.

In 1981, the reigning military government renamed the airport Omar Torrijos International Airport in honour of one of its leaders, but the original name was restored in 1989 following the fall of the dictatorship.

The airport features two runways oriented roughly east-west: one measuring 3,300 m and the other extending slightly longer at 3,400 m.
