COL: El Dorado International Airport

103-09 Avenida El Dorado, Bogota, Colombia

Named after the legend of a mythical city of gold, El Dorado International Airport is the primary gateway to Colombia. Known as one of the busiest airports in Latin America, the airport serves as a key hub for both Avianca and LATAM Airlines, the flag carrier of Colombia and Chile respectively.

After checking out of Hotel Vilar America, my BFF and I took an Uber ride to the airport.

Thanks to the light traffic, the journey took less than half an hour.

International flights depart from and arrive at Terminal 1.

It's the busiest airport of Colombia, accounting for roughly half of the country's air traffic.

Interestingly, the flight monitor shows destinations arranged in alphabetical order.
We checked in with Turkish Airlines at the dedicated Business Class counter.

The public area at the airport offers only a few shops and eateries, providing limited options for those waiting outside the transit area.

Juan Valdez Café can be found in Malaysia, but not Singapore.

I recall seeing an astonishing number of scissors being confiscated before when I was younger.
After clearing immigration and security screening, we wandered through the bustling transit area.

There are 32 gates in Terminal 1: 10 for international flights and 22 for domestic flights.

I believe Priority Pass has since reduced the time limit to two hours.
On the second floor near Gate 32, where Avianca VIP Lounge is located, there's also a food court.

I'll fly with LATAM Airlines to Easter Island, Chile someday.
Before the opening of El Dorado International Airport, Soledad International Airport in Barranquilla served as the primary air hub of Colombia.

Victoria's Secret is never really a secret, is it?

Zelulab is a store specialising in mobile phone accessories.
Covering an area of 1,700 acres, the airport has got two runways, each stretching 3,800 m in length.

Avianca has been the flag carrier of Colombia since end 1919.
In both 2016 and 2017, the airport was named as the best in South America by the World Airport Awards.
